Three free Toad® for Oracle DBA training classes

Toad for Oracle DBAs—Database Maintenance

This complimentary course is for Oracle DBAs who need to learn how to best leverage Toad DBA tools for diagnosing and resolving database performance issues and efficiently managing complex database environments. In other words, anyone managing Oracle instances and Real Application Cluster (RAC) environments.

In addition to providing an overview of the toolset, this course delves into Toad’s maintenance utilities, including Health Check, Jump Search, RMAN, Database Browser and Backup Reporter, among others. You’ll learn how collectively view all managed databases and execute tasks all within the same window, while simplifying routine tasks, such as administration of users, roles, object privileges, storage and more. You’ll also learn how to use the Session Browser and AWR Browser during hands-on simulations.

Toad for Oracle DBAs—Change Management

This complimentary course is all about using Toad’s change management tools to efficiently keep track of database changes and ensure that changes don’t have adverse effects on performance. In lesson 1, you’ll learn about benchmarking and testing changes as you capture and visualize database transactions in an Oracle trace file. You’ll be able to use Toad to evaluate the impact of database changes on SQL performance, replay database workloads in a test environment and use out-of-the-box standard benchmarks to quickly benchmark your databases before making a change. You’ll also learn how Toad Data Modeler and Schema Compare and Sync features allow you to deploy schema changes into production via data models.

Toad for Oracle DBAs—Performance Management

An important part of being a DBA is diagnosing and resolving database performance issues, finding performance bottlenecks, and resolving poorly performing SQL and PL/SQL queries. In this complimentary course, you’ll learn how to use Toad to diagnose performance bottlenecks in your database environments – standalone, RAC and Exadata systems – caused by SQL workloads, database activity, I/O rates, and configuration and memory. Then, you’ll learn how Toad SQL Optimizer can help you tune poorly performing statements and analyze code to predict future bottlenecks.

Completing all three courses will give you a solid foundation for using the DBA-specific features of Toad— which are all designed to streamline and automate your daily administrative activities using one tool and a single interface. You’ll also learn how Toad fosters collaboration between administrators and developers, which is especially important in a DevOps environment.
