We are thrilled to unveil a new preview feature for Toad Data Point that is sure to enhance your data analysis experience: AI Ask. This innovative addition to our Workbook is designed to streamline your workflow and make querying your data more intuitive and efficient. Currently available to a select group of users, this feature leverages advanced AI capabilities to transform how you interact with your data.
Why AI Ask?
Our goal is to provide you with tools that simplify complex data tasks. The AI Ask feature is designed to make querying your data more accessible by allowing you to ask natural language questions and receive SQL queries and results instantly. This feature is particularly useful for users who may not be familiar with SQL but still need to extract meaningful insights from their data.
Key features
1. Intuitive Query Builder
The AI Ask feature utilizes a modified Query Builder template. The left-side panel lists all the questions you ask, grouped by day, with a delete (X) button next to each question for easy management.
2. Easy question management
- Search functionality: Quickly find any question with the search by word feature.
- Daily grouping: Questions are organized by day, making it easy to track and manage your queries over time.
3. User-friendly interface
The right-side panel is divided into three sections:
- Question input:
- A resizable field to type your questions with the prompt “Ask a question about data.”
- Questions are submitted by pressing the Enter key, and the field returns to its default state after submission.
- Frequently asked questions are dynamically generated based on your main query results and displayed as buttons below the input field for quick access.
- Generated SQL:
- Once a question is answered, the SQL query is generated and displayed here.
- This section can be hidden or shown by clicking a button at the top right, with your preference saved per session.
- Results display:
- The results of your query are displayed here, with horizontal and vertical scrollbars for easy navigation.
- Each section can be resized using a splitter bar button.
4. Seamless integration and performance
- Question history: Clicking on a question in the left-side panel will display the complete question, generated SQL, and results in the right-side panel.
- Persistent data: All questions and generated SQL queries are saved as part of the workbook file, ensuring you never lose your work.
